Random Acts of Kindness

WARREN AND TANIA TO APPEAR ON CHANNEL NINE’S NEW SHOW ‘RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS’
to air on July 12th, 2009

And when I thought my life couldn’t get any better, while enjoying a barbecue on our back deck with Warren’s family and his mates to celebrate their achievement in winning the ‘Pride of Australia Award’ TM for Mateship, we were pleasantly surprised when a visit came from Channel 9’s Karl Stefanovic for a new show called ‘Random Acts of Kindness’. I couldn’t believe this was all happening. We were all totally caught unaware as film crews came running down the side of our house and up onto our back deck saying, ‘Surprise’. Warren’s father and mate Tim were in on the act and the rest of us were dumb founded in shock. It was the sought of thing you see happen to others on television and you could never dream that you would be chosen out of everyone in Australia for this to happen to you. Karl said that he had been watching our story closely and was so touched by Warren’s tenacity and strength of spirit, along with my love, devotion and commitment to him over the years in caring for him, that he wanted to give back something to our family and also to his mates for sticking by him.

The surprises began as they presented Warren with a beautiful stainless steel bbq, before whisking the entire family (Warren’s parents and all) with us to The Marriott Resort & Spa on the Gold Coast to be treated like the king and queen for an unbelievable five days away. During our time there nothing was spared as I was treated to trips to the Day Spa, followed by the family taking a limousine ride and outing to Sea World for all the attractions the park had to offer, a surprise visit by the King ‘Wally Lewis’ for Waz and even Hi-5 and Elmo for Josh to finish off. Not to mention being wined and dined for our entire time away. We all felt so very special and couldn’t stop smiling, wondering what more could they possibly do. Our days were jammed packed, not a minute was left untouched and it truly was the best week of our life before sadly having to return back home.

And who could have thought that on our return we would be surprised once more. As we pulled up outside our house, Karl was awaiting us to show us our freshly painted house that they had restored to its glory while we were away. He then took me inside and presented me with a $3,000 gift voucher to my favourite clothes store Jacqui E, to buy a new wardrobe of clothes with Woman’s Day Fashion Director, Jo Ferguson. This brought me to tears as the surprises continued and how lucky I felt to have been rewarded with this once in a lifetime opportunity after my years of caring. I didn’t think it could get any better than this! Then the final surprise came when Warren and I where taken away, dressed up in our evening attire, before returning to our home a couple of hours later for a romantic fairytale setting that had been created on our back deck. It was the most beautiful setting I had seen, the attention to detail reminded me of our wedding day with fairy lights, candelabras, chair covers and lanterns hanging from the pergola, along with 3 large vases of fresh flowers running through the centre of the table with crystals and tea light candles surrounding and a bottle of Moet Chandon served to top it all off. As Karl concluded the show and spoke about the love we shared, he had one final surprise installed. One of the world’s best chef’s, Mr. Bill Granger was cooking up a storm in our kitchen with one of most tantalising meals we had ever tasted. The romantic evening was truly special for us both and something we will never ever forget. It was a fitting finale to the most memorable weeks of our life.

And then, not to leave Warren’s mates out – the boys were treated to a day of a lifetime when they were taken up to Sydney by bus to the Sydney Cricket Ground and into the members stand. There they were introduced to the New South Wales Sheffield Shield Team and told to suit up in some cricket outfits, ready to play against them! This was an incredible experience for them all as they battered and bowled with the stars on very hallowed ground. What a fantastic day they had, followed by lunch in the member’s bar. A truly amazing opportunity and a day they will all treasure forever.

Tania & Warren’s Random Acts of Kindness will air sometime from April to June 2009 on the Nine Network.
